Welcome to the website of the Chinese Civic Center at
Houston, Texas. A non-profit organization (IRS
501.(C)(3)status), the Chinese Civic Center was founded in
1995 by a group of volunteers to build a better
Chinese/Asian community in the greater Houston Metropolitan
area and to promote Sino-US friendship.
By the continuous efforts from the member of the board of
directors and trustees, community volunteers and donors and
corporate sponsors, the Center has achieved rapid growth and
has become one of the major cultural and civic activity
exchange hubs for the local Chinese community.
In 2003, we have provided a
wide range of programs to an increasing number of people
utilizing the facility and participating in cultural and
civic activities and programs. We took on the challenges and
flourished on several fronts. We expanded community services
with a 20% year by year growth in the number of people we
serve every week. We served as a hub to more than 30
non-profit community organizations. We broadened fund
raising venues by exploring more grants opportunities and
organizing numbers of fund raiser functions and events, and
functioning as an incubator to many budding multi-cultural
education businesses.
As the Chairman of the board of directors, I want to thank
those who have made contributions to the center during the
past years. Without your efforts, our center would not be
where it is today.
The biggest challenge that we face this year is to find a
permanent home for the Center. The use of our current
building is an in-kind donation by Mr Hai, Chairman of the
board of trustee of the Center.
This building has been our home for the past 4 years and
time has come for us to find a permanent home for the
center. Along with other volunteers on the board of
directors, we are fully committed to take on this challenge.
I believe with your continuous and generous supports, we
will be able to accomplish this mission for our community.

programs, services and events both in the past and in the
future. You will also see a list of institutional and
individual contributors as well as our annual financial
reports.
